JAKARTA, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- Heavy rainfall disrupted operations at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Indonesia's Banten province, causing delays to 109 flights on Monday.
Seven aircraft conducted go-arounds before landing, while 31 flights were diverted to alternative airports to ensure flight safety, said PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports), through the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport branch office.
"We continue to coordinate intensively with relevant parties to ensure swift and appropriate operational handling of the impact of this morning's rain," Soekarno-Hatta International Airport General Manager Heru Karyadi said.
To minimize the impact of the disruptions on passengers, airport management has implemented delay management procedures and strengthened coordination and communication with airlines and related agencies. ■
