ISLAMABAD, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- At least five people were killed when a car collided with a truck in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, rescue officials said on Sunday.
The accident occurred on Saturday night in Khyber district after the car, reportedly travelling at high speed, crashed head-on into a truck coming from the opposite direction, a spokesperson of the state-run Rescue 1122 told Xinhua.
The impact severely damaged the car, killing four occupants on the spot, while a fifth injured person later succumbed to injuries, the officials said.
Rescue teams rushed to the scene soon after receiving information about the crash. The bodies were shifted to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities.
An investigation into the incident was underway, officials added. ■
