SEOUL, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- One man in his 20s was pinned under a signboard and killed on Saturday in South Korea amid strong winds, according to Yonhap news agency.
The signboard measuring 15 meters wide and 2 meters long fell in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi province, where the strong wind advisory was in effect, at around 2:21 p.m. local time (0521 GMT).
The man was crushed by the falling sign while walking along the street. He was found dead by rescue workers.
It was estimated that powerful winds gusted up to 9 meters per second at the time of the accident.
The police and fire authorities were investigating the exact cause of the accident. ■
