SINGAPORE, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- A firefighter suffered heat exhaustion and was taken to hospital while responding to a fire at a residential building in eastern Singapore on Friday night, the Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) said.
In an update early on Saturday, the SCDF said the firefighter had been discharged and was "feeling well."
The fire broke out in a unit on the 15th floor of a residential block, where one of the bedrooms was ablaze when firefighters arrived at the scene. The fire was largely confined to the bedroom, and no one was inside the unit at the time, the SCDF said.
As a precaution, about 100 people from the affected block were evacuated. The cause of the fire is under investigation. ■
