HANOI, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam has identified six socio-economic regions under a National Assembly resolution on the national master plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, local daily Dan Tri reported Saturday.
The National Assembly aims to capitalize on the strengths of each region, with a particular focus on developing two key growth poles in the north and the south, centered on Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
The six regions comprise the northern midland and mountainous region, the Red River Delta region, the north central region, the south central coast and Central Highlands region, the southeastern region and the Mekong Delta region.
Each region is assigned specific targets for gross regional domestic product growth, with the Red River Delta region and the southeastern region setting the highest goal at around 11 percent per year. ■
