MANILA, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- The Philippines' national government total outstanding debt climbed to 17.65 trillion pesos (297.29 billion U.S. dollars) as of the end of November 2025, up 0.49 percent from that in October, the country's Bureau of the Treasury said Wednesday.

In a statement, the bureau said the month-on-month increase was driven by the net issuance of domestic and external debt, partly offset by lower valuations of foreign-currency-denominated obligations due to the peso's appreciation.

Domestic debt accounted for 68.66 percent of the total debt stock, while external obligations made up the remaining 31.34 percent.

The end-November 2025 domestic debt level rose slightly to 12.12 trillion pesos (204 billion dollars), up 0.60 percent from the prior month, the bureau said.

The national government's external debt rose slightly to 5.53 trillion pesos (around 93 billion dollars), up 0.26 percent from the previous month, it added.
