KABUL, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- A total of 350 small- and large-scale manufacturing factories have begun production and industrial operations in Herat province's industrial park in western Afghanistan during 2025, a local official announced on Tuesday.

"The expansion of these factory operations has significantly bolstered domestic production, created employment opportunities for hundreds of people, and played a crucial role in promoting Afghanistan's economic self-sufficiency," said Mohammad Yusuf Sayedi, spokesperson for the provincial government.

Entire support for industrialists, the provision of essential facilities for investors, tariff reductions, easier access to raw materials, streamlined licensing procedures for traders and manufacturers, and simplified administrative processes have been pivotal in attracting investment to Herat's industrial sector, Sayedi added.

The Afghan government has called on domestic and international organizations to increase investment in the country, emphasizing that such inflows would help address economic difficulties and create much-needed employment opportunities for the impoverished population.
