COLOMBO, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- Disciplinary action has been taken against around 500 Sri Lankan police officers over drug-related offenses as police crack down on errant officers as part of an anti-drug campaign, a senior police officer told the media on Sunday.
Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasooriya said some officers have been dismissed from duty.
Depoliticizing the police, improving efficiency and eradicating drugs are key policy priorities of the government, he said. ■
