KATHMANDU, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- Six people were killed after a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) met with an accident in Makwanpur district in central Nepal on Sunday, said a police officer.
The SUV, with nine people on board including the driver, en route to Hetauda from Kathmandu, fell about 100 meters down a cliff from the highway at around 6 p.m. local time, leading to the fatal accident.
"We conducted a rescue within an hour and rushed them to the hospital. Six were pronounced dead at the hospital," Pushkar Bogati, spokesperson for the district police in Makwanpur, told Xinhua.
Two children and a woman, who sustained injuries, are receiving treatment at a local hospital, he said. ■
