ISLAMABAD, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- One person was killed and four others were injured in a hand grenade attack in Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province on Thursday evening, security sources said.
The incident occurred at around 7:05 p.m. local time in Sibi district, where unidentified assailants hurled a hand grenade into a crowded area, the sources told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
The attackers fled the scene following the incident, according to the sources.
The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, while security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace those involved.
An investigation into the attack is underway, the sources said. ■
