Brunei financial sector grows 5.5 pct in Q3: central bank

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- Brunei's financial sector continued to demonstrate resilience and stability in the third quarter of 2025, expanding by 5.5 percent with total assets reaching 25.6 billion Brunei dollars (about 19.93 billion U.S. dollars), according to the Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB) on Thursday.

The sector, which comprises both Islamic and conventional financial institutions, has maintained steady growth amid evolving domestic and global financial conditions.

According to the BDCB, the Islamic finance sector remained the dominant segment, with assets amounting to 14.8 billion Brunei dollars, representing 57.5 percent of the total financial sector assets.

Meanwhile, the conventional finance sector held assets worth 10.9 billion Brunei dollars, accounting for the remaining share.

The BDCB continues to engage actively with industry stakeholders to ensure that its regulatory and supervisory frameworks remain robust and responsive to evolving market developments, thereby safeguarding the stability and resilience of the financial system.
