KABUL, Jan. 1 (Xinhua) -- Counter-narcotics police have discovered 60 kg of crystal meth and detained an alleged drug smuggler during an operation in western Afghanistan's Nimroz province on Wednesday, the Ministry of Interior Affairs said in a statement on Thursday.
"Acting on a tip-off, the counter-narcotics police launched an operation in Khashrod district yesterday, discovered 60 kg of crystal meth, and arrested its trafficker," the statement posted on its social media platform said.
The statement added that after the preliminary investigation, police would hand over the suspect to the relevant authorities for further investigation.
Earlier, in similar operations, police arrested 44 alleged drug smugglers in other parts of Afghanistan on Monday. ■
