KABUL, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- Heavy rain and flash flood claimed one life and injured four others in western Afghanistan's Farah province on Monday night, provincial director for National Disaster Management Authority, Mohammad Israel Sayar, said Tuesday.
The official confirmed that his office has already prepared necessary equipment such as tents, foodstuff and blankets for 1,500 families if the number of casualties and affected families increases and the situation requires.
Parts of Afghanistan, including the capital city Kabul, have experienced snowfall and rain over the past two days. The meteorological department of the Ministry for Transport and Civil Aviation forecast more rain and snowfall in parts of the country over the next 24 hours. ■
