KABUL, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) has distributed more than 22 million Afghanis (over 333,000 U.S. dollars) in cash assistance to families who recently returned to eastern Afghanistan's Ghazni province, local media outlet Tolo news reported on Sunday.

According to the report, around 1,300 families who returned from neighboring Pakistan and Iran received financial support in the province. Each family was provided with 17,000 Afghanis to help meet their immediate needs.

Beneficiaries welcomed the assistance as the aid will help them cope with the challenges of resettlement.

As thousands of Afghan families continue to return from neighboring countries, many face urgent needs for basic services and livelihoods. In response, the ARCS has launched several humanitarian initiatives in various provinces to support returnees during this critical period. (1 Afghani equals 0.015 U.S. dollar)
