SINGAPORE, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's manufacturing output rose 14.3 percent year-on-year in November, government data showed on Friday, driven by a sharp expansion in biomedical manufacturing.
On a seasonally adjusted basis, overall output fell 10.2 percent from October.
All manufacturing clusters except general manufacturing recorded annual growth. Biomedical manufacturing led the increase, with output surging 79.3 percent.
Within the cluster, pharmaceuticals output jumped 124.3 percent, reflecting higher production of active pharmaceutical ingredients, while the medical technology segment grew 11.3 percent on steady demand for medical devices.
By contrast, output in the general manufacturing cluster declined 4.8 percent from a year earlier. ■
