MANILA, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Three people died while a three-year-old boy remained missing after a motorboat carrying 46 people capsized in the central Philippines after being battered by strong waves, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said Saturday.
The PCG said the incident occurred on Thursday in the waters off Aroroy town, Masbate province, when the vessel encountered rough sea conditions.
Rescue teams managed to save 34 passengers and eight crew members, while search operations are continuing for the missing child. Those who died and the person still missing were all passengers, the PCG said.
The PCG added that it has intensified search-and-rescue efforts in the area and is coordinating with local authorities as investigations into the incident continue. ■
