KABUL, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- A five-day exhibition highlighting Afghan-made goods kicked off on Thursday in Faizabad, the capital of northern Badakhshan province, local officials said.
The event features a variety of domestic products, including agricultural items, handicrafts, food products, and locally manufactured goods, according to Zabihullah Amiri, provincial director of the Information and Culture Department.
Amiri emphasized the importance of leveraging the current security environment to encourage investment, which would create jobs and generate income. He added that the Afghan government is committed to empowering local enterprises.
The initiative aligns with broader efforts to bolster domestic industries and reduce reliance on imports. Similar exhibitions have been held in various provinces nationwide to showcase Afghan craftsmanship and entrepreneurial potential.
The exhibition is scheduled to continue through Monday. ■
