KATHMANDU, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Nepal on Wednesday gifted two elephants to Qatar, as the pair were flown on a chartered flight from Gautam Buddha International Airport in Nepal's Lumbini province, a government official said.
"The Qatar government had sent the chartered flight to ferry them," said Abinash Thapa Magar, the information officer at Chitwan National Park, where the male and female elephants were born and raised.
The two elephants were accompanied by a veterinary technician and two mahouts, who will spend a month teaching the local caretaker how to handle them, said Magar. ■
