ISLAMABAD, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan on Monday kicked off the last nationwide polio campaign of 2025, targeting 45.5 million children under the age of five, according to the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC).
The week-long drive will continue till Dec. 21, said NEOC officials, adding that more than 400,000 frontline polio workers will take part in the campaign.
Pakistan and Afghanistan remain the last two countries in the world where polio continues to exist, with new cases being reported every year.
The health officials urged parents, caregivers, public representatives and community leaders to actively support the nationwide polio vaccination campaign to root-out the crippling disease. ■
