KABUL, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan's Ministry of Public Works announced Friday that an 11-km section of the country's vital Ring Road has been fully asphalted, marking another step toward enhanced transportation and economic growth.
The newly paved stretch, connecting Karokh district in western Herat province with the Laman area in neighboring Badghis province, was completed at a cost of 3.8 million U.S. dollars, Mohammad Ashraf Haqshinas, spokesman for the ministry, said on social media.
The Afghanistan Ring Road, a strategic national artery linking 16 provinces, plays a pivotal role in facilitating transport, reducing travel time and costs, boosting local trade, and improving access to services.
The project reflects the Afghan government's continued commitment to upgrading road networks and rebuilding critical infrastructure across the war-ravaged country. ■
