SEOUL, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's export volume rebounded last month owing to strong demand for locally-made semiconductors, central bank data showed Friday.

The export volume index expanded 6.8 percent in November from a year earlier, after retreating 1.1 percent in the previous month, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK).

In terms of volume, shipments for computers and electronic and optical devices advanced 10.5 percent in November on a yearly basis amid robust demand for semiconductors used for artificial intelligence (AI) chipsets.

Export volume for transport equipment gained in double digits, but shipments for coal and oil products declined in double figures.

The export value index increased 9.1 percent in November compared to the same month of last year.

The import volume index grew 4.3 percent in the cited month, while the import value index rose 0.7 percent.

The net terms-of-trade index for goods, or a ratio of export price to import price, was up 5.8 percent in November on a yearly basis due to the import price fall.
