ASTANA, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- A photo exhibition commemorating the 70th founding anniversary of China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region opened Wednesday at the National Museum of Kazakhstan.
Over 200 people from various sectors in China and Kazakhstan attended the opening ceremony and viewed the displays.
The exhibition, titled "Magnificent Xinjiang, Glorious Journey," features 70 photos highlighting the region's natural scenery, ethnic unity, development and revitalization, and foreign exchanges.
Speaking at the event, Chinese Ambassador to Kazakhstan Han Chunlin said the exhibition offers a concentrated display of Xinjiang's magnificent landscapes, rich cultural heritage and notable development achievements.
Han added that China's forthcoming 15th Five-Year Plan will create new opportunities for global development, and that Xinjiang will continue deepening cooperation with Kazakhstan across various fields to help usher in the next golden 30 years of China-Kazakhstan relations.
Berik Abdigaliuly, director of the National Museum of Kazakhstan, said the successful opening of the exhibition stands as a vivid example of people-to-people connectivity and harmonious exchanges of spirit and wisdom between the two peoples, and will further promote cultural and people-to-people cooperation.
At the opening ceremony, the Chinese Embassy in Kazakhstan also donated a collection of books on Chinese modernization to the museum.
Running through Dec. 28, the exhibition is jointly organized by the Chinese Embassy in Kazakhstan, Xinhua News Agency's Astana Branch, the National Museum of Kazakhstan, and the sustainable development earth foundation, an environmental NGO in Kazakhstan. ■
