TOKYO, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks ended lower Thursday, as rises after overnight gains on Wall Street were erased by declines of heavyweight technology shares.

The benchmark Nikkei stock index, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average, ended down 453.98 points, or 0.90 percent, from Wednesday to 50,148.82.

The broader Topix index, meanwhile, finished 31.78 points, or 0.94 percent, lower at 3,357.24.

Stocks opened higher, tracking overnight rises in U.S. shares after the Federal Reserve cut its benchmark interest rate for the third straight time, but the market was later weighed down by the selling of some semiconductor and artificial intelligence-related shares following a weaker-than-expected earnings report from U.S. tech giant Oracle, analysts said.
