ISLAMABAD, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- A Pakistani military court on Thursday sentenced former chief of the country's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment after finding him guilty on multiple charges, the military said.
Legal proceedings against the former lieutenant general, Faiz Hameed, were initiated on Aug. 12, 2024, under the Pakistan Army Act and concluded after 15 months of hearings, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani army, said in a statement.
He was tried on four charges, including engaging in political activities, violating the Official Secrets Act in a manner deemed detrimental to state security, misuse of authority and government resources, and causing wrongful loss to individuals, the statement said.
The ISPR added that the court found him guilty on all counts, and the sentence was formally promulgated on Dec. 11, 2025.
His alleged involvement in "fomenting political agitation and instability in collaboration with political elements" is being addressed separately, the statement added. ■
