BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- Brunei will corporatize its national postal services effective on Jan. 1, 2026, under a new entity, PosBru Sdn Bhd, marking the first major step in the country's broader postal sector transformation, Brunei's Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) announced on Wednesday.

Speaking at the Postal Services Open Day, Haji Hairul Mohd Daud, acting permanent secretary at MTIC, said the corporatization move is part of the nation's long-term strategy to ensure Brunei's postal sector remains competitive, sustainable and relevant amid rapid digitalization.

He noted that while traditional mail volumes have declined significantly, demand for parcels, logistics and e-commerce services continues to grow.

The Open Day event served as a platform for key stakeholders to gain insight into PosBru's mandate, operating model and future direction following the corporatization.
