MANILA, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- The Philippines' unemployment rate climbed to 5 percent in October 2025, up from 3.8 percent in September, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) data released on Wednesday.
PSA Chief Claire Dennis Mapa said in a press conference that about 2.54 million Filipinos were out of work in October, a sharp increase from 1.96 million in the previous month.
The October unemployment rate figure also exceeded the 1.97 million unemployed recorded in October 2024, when the jobless rate stood at 3.9 percent. ■
