Sri Lanka restores 99 pct of water supply systems damaged in adverse weather

COLOMBO, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) of Sri Lanka has announced that 99 percent of the water supply systems damaged by the recent adverse weather have been restored, local media reported.

Accordingly, NWSDB Acting Chairman Upali Rathnayake told reporters in Colombo that the board expects to complete restoration work within a week, said the report.

Meanwhile, the President's Media Division said that steps were also being taken to ensure the water supply in Uva Province, one of the hardest-hit regions in the adverse weather, is maintained without disruption.
