TOKYO, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Two crew members went missing Thursday after a fishing boat capsized off Miyako Island in Japan's southern Okinawa Prefecture, the local coast guard said.
The two missing are believed to be a Japanese national and an Indonesian national who had been squid fishing aboard the vessel, which belonged to a fishery cooperative on Ishigaki Island.
The incident occurred around 4 a.m. local time, when a nearby vessel made an emergency call, reporting that it received a radio message that the fishing boat was about to sink, after which all communication from the boat ceased.
Approximately three hours after the report, a coast guard helicopter spotted the overturned boat, roughly 115 km south of Miyako Island.
At the time of the accident, winds were reportedly around 10 meters per second, and a high wave advisory was in effect. ■
