HANOI, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's gross domestic product (GDP) is projected to rise by 6.2 percent in 2026 and 5.8 percent in 2027, Vietnam News Agency reported Wednesday, citing a report released Tuesday by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

Although growth is expected to moderate over the next two years, the OECD still considers Vietnam one of the fastest-growing economies in Asia, consistent with recent forecasts from major international institutions, the report said.

According to the OECD, public investment is expected to remain a key driver supporting aggregate demand and promoting economic growth, contributing to Vietnam's target of achieving an annual GDP growth rate of 8 percent in 2025.

Meanwhile, the OECD warned that Vietnam's economy faces significant risks from a potential slowdown in global trade in 2026, the planned adjustment of value-added tax rates in 2027, and uncertainties arising from the policy direction of major economies.
