SEOUL, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's imported car sale logged a double-digit growth last month due to strong demand for German luxury models and U.S. electric vehicles, industry data showed Wednesday.
The number of imported vehicles sold here soared 23.4 percent from a year earlier to 29,357 in November, according to the Korea Automobile Importers & Distributors Association (KAIDA).
For the first 11 months of this year, 278,769 foreign vehicles were sold here, up 16.3 percent compared to the same period of last year.
U.S. automaker Tesla ranked first in terms of automotive sales here among foreign companies by selling 7,632 units last month.
German carmaker BMW came next with the sale of 6,526 units, followed by German automaker Mercedes-Benz with 6,139 units, Volvo with 1,459 units, BYD with 1,164 units and Lexus with 1,039 units.
The number of European models sold here was 17,996 last month, taking up 61.3 percent of the total. U.S., Japanese and Chinese brands recorded the market shares of 27.7 percent, 7.0 percent and 4.0 percent each. ■
