NEW DELHI, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- At least three persons died, and nearly 15 others were injured when the bus they were travelling in collided with an electric pole and caught fire in India's northern state of Uttar Pradesh early on Tuesday, confirmed a local police officer over the phone.
Six injured persons were critical. Among the victims were some Nepali nationals, added the officer.
The mishap occurred on the Balrampur-Gonda road, near the Phulwaria bypass intersection in the Balrampur district. The bus was going from the India-Nepal international border at Sonauli area to Delhi.
According to the police, preliminary reports suggested that the fuel tank of the bus caught fire due to the collision. ■
