ISLAMABAD, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- Four people, including an official and two policemen, were killed on Tuesday when the official's vehicle came under attack in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police said.
The incident happened in Bannu district, where the attackers opened fire on the vehicle before setting it on fire, Deputy Inspector General of the district Sajjad Khan told Xinhua.
He said that the official who was assistant commissioner of the district was on his way to appear before a court in some hearing against terrorists, adding that a civilian working in nearby fields was also among those killed in the assault.
Two policemen were also injured in the attack and have been shifted to a nearby hospital, Khan added.
The security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to track down the perpetrators.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet. ■
