HANOI, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's capital Hanoi plans to launch thousands of public electric bikes to accelerate its shift toward green transportation, Vietnam News Agency reported Tuesday.
Tri Nam Digital Transportation Services Joint Stock Company has already deployed 500 electric bikes across 130 locations in the city since Dec. 1, mainly within Ring Road 1.
From this December to the first quarter of 2026, the company intends to put over 5,000 electric bicycles into service within Hanoi's urban area, according to Nguyen Dang Khoa, the company's director.
Gleximco Joint Stock Company plans to operate 1,000 to 2,000 vehicles in January 2026, expand to 5,000 in July 2026 and reach 20,000 to 30,000 vehicles by December 2028, the report said. ■
