PURSAT, Cambodia, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- A team of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) experts on Saturday provided free medical check-ups and treatment to teachers and local residents in western Cambodia's Pursat province.
Held at the Hun Sen Bakchenhchien High School in Phnom Kravanh district, the one-day event allowed local people to experience the charm of TCM culture firsthand.
At the event, dozens of teachers, local residents and authorities received health consultations and treatment.
Sum Sopharit, principal of the Hun Sen Bakchenhchien High School, said the TCM experts were very professional, and they paid attention to diagnosing illnesses before providing treatment.
"I also received TCM treatment and felt relieved," he told Xinhua. "This treatment is very useful for people's health, and it's great that the medical team has spent their time treating teachers at our school."
"I would like to thank the Chinese doctors for providing free treatment here, and I wish them good health and success in all endeavors," Sopharit said.
TCM is known for helping heal issues such as osteoporosis, insomnia, infertility, pain, chronic cough, bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and interstitial lung disease.
It consists of therapies such as acupuncture, moxibustion, and Tuina remedial massage.
Chhum Huoy, a 73-year-old local resident in the district, said she has had waist pain for years, and she felt relieved after receiving acupuncture.
"I've never received TCM treatment. This is my first time," she told Xinhua. "After receiving acupuncture, I feel less pain when sitting."
Huoy said she was very grateful to Chinese doctors for providing free consultations and treatment to rural people.
"In such a rural area, we are very happy that volunteer doctors come to help treat us," he said. ■
