KABUL, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Authorities have officially launched the construction of a vital road in northern Afghanistan's Badakhshan province, which will connect two important provinces, the state-run Bakhtar news agency said on Monday.
The 60-kilometer-long road is being developed with financial support from the Afghan government, at an estimated cost of 79 million afghanis (over 1 million U.S. dollars), the report said.
The road, which will serve as a crucial link between neighboring provinces, is expected to improve transportation and trade, as well as facilitate easier access for local communities to essential services, the report added.
The Badakhshan road project is one of several ongoing projects aimed at enhancing connectivity and fostering regional integration within Afghanistan. ■
