5 killed in blast in Pakistani capital -- police sources

ISLAMABAD, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- At least five people were killed and more than 10 others injured on Tuesday afternoon in a blast outside the district courts in Pakistan's capital Islamabad, police sources told Xinhua.

An official from Islamabad Police said that the explosion occurred near the Judicial Complex, which houses several district courts.

Police and rescue teams immediately rushed to the site and shifted the bodies and the injured to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences.

The official said the death toll could rise as several of the injured were in critical condition.

The nature of the blast has not yet been determined, the official added, saying that the bomb disposal squad was working to ascertain the cause of the explosion.
