Malaysia's services sector revenue up 6.3 pct in Q3

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- The revenue of Malaysia's services sector increased by 6.3 percent year-on-year in the third quarter of 2025, reaching 657.7 billion ringgit (158.63 billion U.S. dollars), official data showed Tuesday.

The Department of Statistics Malaysia said in a statement that the growth was supported by sustained expansion in business activities and positive performance across all segments of the sector.

The wholesale & retail trade, accommodation, and food & beverage segments recorded a year-on-year growth of 5.8 percent in the third quarter, the highest increase compared with the previous two quarters, with total revenue reaching 496.8 billion ringgit.

The private health, private education, arts, entertainment & recreation, and personal services & other activities segment recorded a year-on-year growth of 12.4 percent in the quarter, reflecting strong and sustained consumer demand for services that support wellbeing, education, and lifestyle.

On a quarter-on-quarter basis, the revenue in the services sector rose 2.5 percent compared to the second quarter of 2025. (1 ringgit equals 0.24 U.S. dollars)
