ULAN BATOR, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia's central bank bought 12.7 tons of gold from legal entities and individuals in the first ten months of 2025, down 10.3 percent year on year.

As of October, Mongolia's average gold purchase price had been 466,946 Mongolian tugriks (130.1 U.S. dollars) per gram, the Bank of Mongolia said in a statement on Tuesday.

Buying gold is one of the main functions of a central bank to diversify the country's foreign exchange reserves and hedge against currency risks, it added.

According to the regulator, Mongolia's foreign exchange reserves totaled 5.9 billion dollars by the end of September 2025.
