HANOI, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- A reservoir built on a mountain burst in Vietnam's Central Highlands province of Lam Dong on Saturday night, sweeping away a family of three and killing their daughter, local media VnExpress reported Sunday.
The parents clung to tree branches and were rescued overnight by residents and local forces, while the body of the 13-year-old daughter was found early Sunday about 600 meters from their home.
Local authorities are investigating the cause of the incident.
Heavy rains in recent days have raised the water level of rivers and reservoirs across the region, triggering landslides, flooding highways, and disrupting traffic in several areas, the report added. ■
