PHNOM PENH, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia exported products worth 3.75 billion U.S. dollars to the European Union (EU) market in the first nine months of 2025, a year-on-year increase of 13.7 percent, an official report said on Wednesday.
The EU market accounted for 16.1 percent of the kingdom's total export volume during the January-September period, said the report.
Cambodia's top five export destinations in the EU are Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, France, and Belgium, the report added.
"Main products Cambodia exported to the EU were apparels, textiles, shoes, travel goods, bags, bicycles, car tires, and some electronic devices as well as agricultural produce such as rice, rubber, cashew nuts, casava starch, bananas and longans," Ministry of Commerce's Secretary of State and spokesperson Penn Sovicheat told Xinhua.
Meanwhile, the Southeast Asian country recorded the total import of nearly 655 million dollars from the EU in the first nine months, down 11.9 percent year-on-year, according to the report.
Main goods Cambodia imported from the EU were machinery, home appliances, pharmaceuticals, vehicles, pearls and precious stones, textiles, and electrical items, among others.
Thong Mengdavid, a lecturer at the Institute for International Studies and Public Policy of the Royal University of Phnom Penh, said the EU was still a vital export destination, especially for garments, footwear and bicycles.
"The EU market remains promising, particularly as European buyers seek stable, cost-effective suppliers," he told Xinhua. "Strengthening labor rights, green standards, and trade facilitation could further anchor Cambodia's long-term access and credibility in the EU market." ■
