COLOMBO, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lankan migrant workers remitted 695.7 million U.S. dollars in September, the latest data from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka shows.
This is 140.1 million dollars more than the amount remitted in September 2024, which was 555.6 million dollars, according to the data.
The central bank said workers have remitted over 5.81 billion dollars in the first nine months of 2025, compared with 4.84 billion dollars during the same period in 2024, an increase of 967.9 million dollars.
Tourism earnings were recorded at 182.9 million dollars in September.
Tourism and workers' remittances are two of Sri Lanka's main sources of foreign revenue. ■
