COLOMBO, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- The Sri Lankan government has extended the concessionary period on the deviation tax granted to Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport until June 2027, the Department of Government Information said in a statement on Wednesday.
Airlines operating scheduled flights to and from the airport will continue to be exempted from deviation tax, the statement said.
The concession, first introduced in January 2025, has been extended to attract more international carriers to Mattala Airport and support ongoing airline operations, according to the statement.
Mattala Airport, Sri Lanka's second international airport, officially opened in 2013. ■
