JAKARTA, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said on Wednesday that the government aims to gradually reduce its idle funds at Bank Indonesia (BI) to about 100 trillion rupiahs (around 6 billion U.S. dollars) to enhance fiscal efficiency and stimulate economic activity.

He noted that after transferring 200 trillion rupiahs (about 12 billion dollars) of idle funds from the BI on Sept. 12, around 275 trillion rupiahs (16.6 billion dollars) still remained.

To achieve the target, the government plans to issue short-term government securities with maturities of one to three months, allowing faster liquidity management, Purbaya said.
