TOKYO, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Japanese food and beverage giant Asahi Group Holdings Ltd. has decided to put off the launch of 12 new products due to a system failure following a cyberattack.
The company said on Wednesday it has reported to investigative authorities the apparent ransomware attack, which occurred at around 7 a.m. local time on Monday.
The cyberattack caused glitches in Asahi Group's systems, leading to the suspension of the order and shipment capabilities of its group companies in Japan.
Company officials said it remains uncertain when operations will be restored. Order receipts and other operations have therefore been handled manually at some branches.
The impact of the cyberattack is limited to Asahi's Japan operations, and there has been no leakage of personal or customer data, according to the company. ■
