NEW DELHI, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- The Indian government on Wednesday approved a budget of 9.5 billion U.S. dollars to support minimum support prices (MSP) for the upcoming winter season crops, known locally as Rabi crops.

This decision aims to enhance the MSP for Rabi crops for the 2026-27 marketing season, ensuring that farmers receive fair and remunerative prices for their produce.

The estimated procurement during Rabi season 2026-27 is expected to reach 2.97 million metric tons, Federal Information Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said.
