YANGON, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation has held an event to mark World Ozone Day 2025 in Nay Pyi Taw, the state-owned daily Myanma Alinn reported on Wednesday.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Min Thu said that Myanmar is a party to the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer, the report said.

He added that, as a party to the Montreal Protocol, Myanmar is committed to reducing the production, use, and disposal of ozone-depleting substances in accordance with the terms and commitments of the treaty, the report said.

He urged all people to join hands in implementing measures related to ozone layer conservation and combating climate change, noting that the country is carrying out awareness-raising activities and reducing the use of ozone-depleting refrigerants, just as countries around the world are doing together, it said.

Events, which included the awarding of winners of the essay contests to mark World Ozone Day 2025, were also held in multiple cities and towns across the country on Tuesday, the report said.

The theme for World Ozone Day 2025 is "From Science to Global Action."
