DHAKA, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh's largest international textile trade fair was being held, with Chinese enterprises participating and showing a growing role in the textile supply chain.

More than 1,500 companies from about 30 countries were presenting a wide range of fabrics and sustainable solutions including biodegradable dyes and eco-friendly chemicals.

One of notable features of the event was Chinese companies, which displayed fabrics, yarns, machinery and advanced textile technologies.

Meherun N. Islam, president and group managing director of CEMS-Global and Asia-Pacific, told Xinhua that about 65 to 70 percent of the exhibitors this year were from China, highlighting both the scale and depth of Chinese enterprises' engagement in Bangladesh's textile industry.

Chinese exhibitors remained the backbone of the fair, and their strong presence and quality of their products showed a growing contribution to Bangladesh's garment industry, she added.

Mokhlesur Rahman, senior secretary of Bangladesh's Ministry of Public Administration, praised China's role, saying the country has become a leading force in global trade and commerce.

"Their innovation and their capacity, from small to large, show that they are now leading the whole world in trade and commerce," he told Xinhua.
