ULAN BATOR, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia's inflation rate, as measured by the consumer price index (CPI), rose to 8.8 percent in August, the National Statistics Office (NSO) said Wednesday.
The figure marks a 2.6 percentage point increase compared with the same month in 2024, and a 1.6 percentage point rise from July.
Mongolia's central bank aims to keep inflation within 5 percent (±2 percentage points) from 2027 to ensure macroeconomic and financial stability.
The Asian Development Bank has forecast inflation to edge up to 9.1 percent in 2025 before easing to 7.0 percent in 2026, citing stronger economic activity, higher government spending, and recent energy tariff hikes.
Mongolia's GDP grew 5.6 percent in the first half of 2025, according to the statistical agency. ■
