KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's current account balance (CAB) recorded a surplus of 264.9 million ringgit (62.8 million U.S. dollars) for the second quarter, official data showed Friday.
The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement that Malaysia has sustained a surplus in the CAB during the second quarter amid stronger travel receipts within the services trade and a lower primary income deficit.
The country's exports of goods amounted to 281.6 billion ringgit while imports of goods stood at 264.6 billion ringgit, resulting in a surplus of 17 billion ringgit.
The main drivers of goods exports were electrical and electronics products, petroleum products, palm oil and palm oil-based products. (1 ringgit equals 0.24 U.S. dollars) ■
