VIENTIANE, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- Lao authorities are intensifying efforts to combat human trafficking, support victims, and raise public awareness on prevention and self-protection.
Laos is facing significant challenges related to human trafficking, particularly in cases involving forced marriage, prostitution, pornography, surrogacy, and labor exploitation, Lao News Agency reported on Friday.
Lao authorities are actively implementing the national plan of action on anti-trafficking for 2021-2025, while preparing the 2026-2030 plan to ensure sustained and effective efforts.
The Lao government has prioritized legal enforcement, public awareness campaigns, and victim protection, with particular focus on at-risk groups such as women and children.
In addition, police investigated 46 human trafficking cases in 2024, involving 95 suspects and 85 victims. ■
